Stephanie Brown, DDS, MSD
Dr. Stephanie M. Brown is not a native Texan but grew up as close as you can get on the Oklahoma Texas state line. Dr. Brown spent her childhood on her family farm in Ringling, OK, (previous winter home of the Ringling Brother Circus and yes, she has held a baby tiger). After high school, Dr. Brown attended East Central University where she started the university’s pre-dental club, conducted research for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and met her husband, Jimmy. She then attended the University of Oklahoma Dental School to complete her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
During dental school, she received numerous recognitions including: acceptance into the Pediatric Dentistry Honors program, Outstanding Senior Pediatric Dental Student award, Outstanding Senior Female Dentist award, and she graduated with academic distinction. Throughout dental school, she served as student liaison on the Academic Misconduct Board and the Student Advisory Board, and she was active in American Student Dental Association (ASDA). Additionally, she represented her dental school annually as a legislative liaison in Washington, DC.
She also spent time dedicated to her community. She was actively involved in the children’s free dental clinic. She also helped organize the annual Kid’s Day for the free clinic. Additionally, she worked with, Mission of Mercy and Remote Area Medical events to provide dental services to underprivileged children.
After graduation, she moved to Lake Jackson, TX, where she worked in a general dentistry practice for two years. However, Dr. Brown soon realized her true passion was providing dental care to children and patients with special needs. She moved to join a pediatric dental practice and applied to pediatric dentistry post-graduate programs. She attended the University of Texas Pediatric Dentistry residency and graduated with an additional Masters of Science in Dentistry in 2019.
While at UT, she spent her free time volunteering with children, including at the San Jose Clinic, Give Kids a Smile Day, and Ronald McDonald Dental outreach events to help Houston area children. She had the honor of representing the University of Texas at the AAPD advocacy conference in which she spoke to legislators about current issues affecting children’s healthcare and pediatric dentistry. During her career, Dr. Brown has been active in the professional dental community through the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, Texas Dental Association, the Houston Academy of Pediatric Dentists, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Brown is happily married to her husband Jimmy, who is a chemical engineer. She enjoys yoga, traveling, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family. She and her husband currently love living in Pearland with their Shih Tzu, Snuggles, and Alaskan Klee Kai, Skye.
