A Houstonian since 1980, Dr. Jennifer Kong grew up in the Alief area prior to moving to Bellaire, Texas. She is a graduate of Bellaire High School, and a cum laude graduate of Rice University with B.A. in Economics. Dr. Kong's initial career utilized her economics background in the energy industry where she worked on the trading floors of four major energy companies.
A quarter-life crisis prompted Dr. Kong to search for another career. In dentistry, she found the perfect blend of science, art, and human interaction in the profession of dentistry. She enthusiastically completed her dental training at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, graduating with numerous distinctions: election to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society, the AAPD Predoctoral Student Award, the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry, the Mu Mu Chapter of OKU Scholarship Award, Outstanding Achievement in the Department of Prosthodontics, and the Dean’s Student Excellence List. To help broaden her clinical experiences, Dr. Kong chose to complete externships at the Ohio State University/Nationwide Children’s Hospital Pediatric Dental Clinic, in Columbus, OH, and at the Indian Health Services, Native American Health Center, in San Francisco, CA.
Through her volunteer activities and patient interactions during dental school, Dr. Kong again realized what she had always known, that she loves working with children! This realization guided her to pursue a residency in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Kong feels genuinely fortunate to have found and changed to such a wonderful profession. She looks forward to partnering with your family to provide optimal oral health care for your children.
Dr. Kong and her husband have two daughters, and a rescue dog Dodgeit (pronounced "Dodge-it!"). A former physical fitness enthusiast, Dr. Kong now works out by chasing after both daughters and dog.
